Waiting for a bear
I listen to the drums beat
Watching the smoke dance

drinking my mint tea
thinking about yellow trout
echos of water

Bits of fur and thread
Winding away the hours
Hoping to fool fish

sitting in wet snow 
I watch all the lights go by
waiting for children

wandering through snow
I can hear water calling
filled with little fish

four crows then two
sit huddled in winter light
even trees hug them

January light adding
I see the wind biting at them
keeping vigil I see them

working in pastel
I walk a pathway unknown
my fingers are sore

trees in purple light
black trunks look at black water
white smothering all

scampering along
I hear you in the branches
a flying squirrel

driving through darkness
thinking of missing places
captured in photos
