spirits from on deep
they nibble ephemeral
ignoring my drifts

Working in wood smoke
I hear a robin singing
making things sweeter

A gray streaking sky
Eagles circle above us
Greeting spring sunshine

Walking among rocks
I search water seams for trout
A king fisher flies

Waiting for a bear
I listen to the drums beat
Watching the smoke dance

drinking my mint tea
thinking about yellow trout
echos of water

Bits of fur and thread
Winding away the hours
Hoping to fool fish

sitting in wet snow 
I watch all the lights go by
waiting for children

wandering through snow
I can hear water calling
filled with little fish

four crows then two
sit huddled in winter light
even trees hug them

January light adding
I see the wind biting at them
keeping vigil I see them
